Default check engine light turns on randomly and then when i restart the car it goes away?

The check engine light comes on randomly when I'm idling at a stop light. Then when i get home and shut the car off and turn it back on the light goes away. There is no change in driving performance.

first guess . Your O2 sensor is f*ked up . Or you have a chipped ecu with o2 sensor disabled. ??

next time the check like is on . pull the code off the ecu. . (Jump service connector at ecu)

What trouble code does it have stored? Year and model?

even though the light turns off when you restart the car, the ECU still has the error code in memory.
Pull the codes, go from there.
(go to parts store and have them pull them, or do it yourself like the sticky shows.)

Its a stock p72 . I went to auto zone and they said that the computer didn't store a code. The car is a 98 and the ecu is form a 93.

leave the car running and check the code, it could possible be comming on for random misfire's.. check your plugs

so your running a conversion harness from your engine harness to your ecu correct? obd1

You're gonna need to check the codes manually. The obd2 scanners autozone uses wont read your ecu. Jump the service check line to get the codes to flash.
