I am gonna put a warning out to PLEASE not let this thread get nasty...seen to many HB vs CRX threads go that way.....

Now back on topic...

Unopinionated:

First you have to consider whether you want a back seat as this is the biggest difference between the two. If you must be able to carry more than one extra person then your decision is already done. If you don't care then the next bid difference is a CRX is a little more money if you don't care about that then consider do you need power steering? CRX never came with power steering but I think Civic Si did (not 100% on that one)...Next do you like the look of a HB or the Rex better? What is your main use of the car going to be? do you want 1/4 mile car? Autocross? just a daily driver? a quick DD?

My opinon:

I have had them all, HB, Coupe, and a Rex (no four door so I guess not all). My first car was 91 Civic CX HB, great first car, good on gas, good for a stereo, nice peppy little thing. My Second car was 2000 Civic SE coupe. Great car but too expensive to do **** too....especially making payments on it. My current car 1990 CRX Si. I love my rex! I think they look way sportier and way better than HB, I don't like how boxy HB are. Crx handles better than a HB, everyone who has ever driven my car has wanted it. They all say it is SUCH a FUN car to drive. The Rex is slightly lighter than the HB so its better for racing. A crx is more condusive to a stereo as well because of its two seater and fast back design. Plus a CRX is always seen as a hot car, fast car, sports edition. The HB has the image of a econobox. That can be taken two ways: either take the challenge of making them change their minds about a HB or build upon a foundation already set.

As for what year: 90 - 91 for sure.....goto http://www.crxsi.com to find out the differences between the years of CRXs

Yeah Rex!

I forgot about that....a guy I worked with is like 6'4 or 6'5 and a CRX came into the shop one day and he said Hey check this out.....he sits in the car and pushes the seat all the way back and he can't even reach the pedals!!! odd for japanese car but I thought it was funny

i love my rex, but you need to base you decision on how much room you need...with a rex you are limited to 2, and 2 only...i have the jdm back seat, and you still can't sit back there...but there is plenty of room in the front, no matter how tall you are

the wings west RS kit is a nice choice for the hatch, very clean. i believe the JDM headlights for those cars are two piece, but i wouldn't go to the trouble unless you changed over all the front bodywork. as for the engine, ditch the stock motor for a B16. it performs much better and looks a lot better in the engine bay, it fills the engine bay up. i had a hatch and i have a CRX, i still miss my hatch. i wouldn't get rid of my CRX, but i do want another hatch.

I like the hatch better personally. I have a 91 Si hatch. The CRX is tempting for weight reasons, but I like the look and feel of the hatch better. Its really just a matter of opinion. I also like that people alway expect a CRX to be peppy and sporty, but when they get beat by a Civic hatch they feel like they got beat by an econobox. I'm talking about people who don't really know anything about Honda's (IE: don't realize they're basically the same car).

I'm 6'7" and I made the mistake of getting the hatch. The hatch has more room than just about any other asian Import, (belive me, I've been in them all) but man the CRX's are nice to stretch out in!!!!! I love my car, but if it ever gets totalled, I'm getting a CRX!!!!!!
