SH tranny on 93 block, will it work?
I have been researching this question and I have gotten mixed answeres. I have heard that all SH trannies have ATTS and therefor it will not fit my 93 block. I also heard that a ATTS equiped tranny will bolt up fine except that the ATTS will just be added weight. I am currently shopping for a tranny and need an answere soon, thanks.
dont do it. The differential in Sh tranny is different, and has a special output shaft that connects to the ATTS unit. This will not work in your 93 unless you change the differential. Other then differential problem, it wont might not bolt up to your block, and I think the 4th gen preludes had a sensor in the tranny that the 5th gen doesn't have.
I agree. Besides the obvious complications the ATTS would present, I don't believe the SH block & tranny has the same bolt locations as the base engine. Also, the 4th generation trannies have slightly more ideal gear ratios.
Someone on this board is also selling a 2000 base model (non SH) tranny, do you guys know if I can use that one with my 93 block?
thanks again

Yes, the 97+ Base tranny will bolt right up to your 93 H22a or H23a block. Keep in mind that the 97+ tranny will have slightly taller gearing than a 93-96 H22a trans.
Also, the SH trans will not work on your block. The input shaft is the wrong length, and nevermind all the complications of integrating ATTS into your car.
Andrew
i have heard the bolt pattern for the bell housing is different for an sh and a base model engine block. Can anyone clarify this???
