1998 Honda Accord v6 Coupe 2dr Gauge Instrument Cluster D4/D4 lights
1998 Honda Accord v6 Coupe 2dr Gauge Instrument Cluster D4/D4 lights don't work. When I shift the car into D4/D3 the green square shaped lights don't turn on, but they work fine for every other gear, P/N/1/2.
Is there a fuse or a bulb that might be out? I asked a honda mechanic and he said since the mileage is digital I might have to replace the entire Gauge Instrument Cluster with one that is working but doing that would mess up the mileage reading on the car and I don't want to do that.
Can someone please point me in the right direction? How would I fix the light, it's not important but it really annoys me to see that it doesn't light up when in d4/d3.
Also if anyone has a DIY for changing the lights to HYPER white for the entire dash of the accord, I would appreciate it since I will need to open it up might as well change all the bulbs to hyper white

remove instrument cluster and repalce all the bulbs so you don't have to do it again
Thats what I want to do but a honda mechanic told me that I might have to replace the entire cluster if I want the D4/D3 lights to turn on... not just a bulb since it's a digital cluster. Can someone point me in the right direction of how to open up the cluster and replace the bulbs for my model, I want to also replace them with HYPER white light bulbs for the entire dash.... any DIY instructions available for this particular model?
I doubt you are still looking for this answer, but I just replaced mine yesterday and it is extremely easy.
Step #1: Remove the two upper screws that hold the black pastic cover for the Instrument Cluster. In order to do this, just lower your steering wheel to give more access, and then unscrew the screws. In order to see the holes you will need to look up from a lower vantage point.
Step #2: Remove the black plastic piece. The bottom section has a clip on both sides, so give this a pretty substantial pull and it will slide out.
Step #3: Remove the (4) screws that retain the instrument cluster. (2) at top, and (2) at the bottom. Then pull the entire cluster out from the pocket, and disconnect your (3) wire plugs and you now have complete access to the back of the cluster.
On mine I had an Odometer light out, Illumination Light out, D4 Light out, and a Fuel Light out.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need pictures, as I could problably post something.
Thanks.
