Curb Rash
Ok, stupid driver of the week award <----- . Curbed the sh*t out of the front AND rear driver side tires/rims. They're stock SI's but I am very happy with them. Any suggestions on how to repair the damage? Significant scratching to the top of the rim towards the tire, about 4 inches of curb rash on each.
Clean it out with a brush, use some rubbing alcohol to get rid of grease and grime, sand it a bit with 120 grit, fill with bondo, sand with 220 grit, sand some more with 320, sand and primer. Wet sand the primer with 800 grit then blend with matching silver paint.
thanks, that sounds very helpful. Is there any worries to balancing after the sanding? Its removin a bit o' rim so wasn't sure if that was a concern or not? But thanks again.
How big of an rash is it? If it's just surface that got scratched the crap out of it, don't need to worry about balance, just repair them and you are good. If you want to be perfect, and the rash was really big... say, you sand off a 1/4 pound of alloy dust... go balance it.
