Taking apart 3 piece rims question
I have some 3 piece rims and I want to take the face of to repaint it and polish the lips. I'm gonna leave the 2 halves of the rim together to polish the lip. So would I still have to seal the two halves again even though I haven't taken them apart? I would only be taking off the face of the rim. If anyone knows please let me know.
do the lips come apart? (barrel) if they don't then the answer to your questions is no... you do not have to seal them back. just make sure you tighten the bolts back to the correct spec

torque specs have to do with what size the bolt is that you are tightening. check this link for your correct specs...

The lips do come off from what I see. It is a 3 piece rim. But I havent taken it off or plan to. I was just wondering if i would have to reseal it since I took the face off.
well, most rims like these are welded together so even if he did rip the silicone seal off then they will still be together to begin with but not sure if the tire will hold air after wards..now that's a different story ....resealing of the barrels are only required on aero 3 piece wheels like most bbs rs, etc where the lip (upper barrel) face, and lower barrel come apart
the stark the Op is referring to is basically a welded 3 piece w/ a 2 piece welded barrel and a face attached w/ bolts..

also on the chart for the torque setting, which steal is my bolt? I don't see a hardened stainless steel. I seem some others though. I tested mines at it was about 26lbs of torque. Thanks again im kind of a noob when it comes to wheels
all of the specs look almost the same..
i say just go in between what is recommended then use your best judgment by checking by hand to see if the bolt is tight enough...but do not over-do it.. you can snap the bolt...
