Default Bouncing Tachometer needle

When i start the car the tach jumps higher then tha actual rpm. Once it warms up the tach reads normal. I give it slight acceleration the tach will follow but if i give it to much fuel the needle jumps up. Ive seen alot about a ground mabey or something. I hate electricity! Im ready to install a aftermarket one. Any help?

Bad ignitor modules will cause this also.

I'd try a known good distributor before replacing the ignitor, see if it solves the problem. The next step would be taking your dizzy apart and pulling the ignitor, then using a multimeter to test and see if it is good (if another distributor does make the jumpy tach stop).
