Default ls swap in 97ex.....need help badly....please

me and my boy just did a swap on a 97ex. we swap in a 94 ls motor. we did the harness the way it needs to be done to run with the obd1 engine, also we got the jumper harness for obd2a to obd1 for the ECU. now the problem we are having is that the engine wont start, and when it does, it runs rough and stalls out when u hit the gas. now when we spray starter fluid in it which i know you shouldn't do the car will start up and will idle fine. the only thing is that it throws a check engine light and wont rev pass 4000 rpm. timing has been check, dizzy, and the wiring on the harness. anybody know what the problem may be????

Sounds like it's not firing right. Good plugs, wires, cap, and rotor? Timing is right? Dizzy timing is right?

PS:
What CEL is it throwing - go check that first, it's probably a good indication of what could be wrong.

Sounds dizzy related. Make sure all your grounds and connections are secure.

we have been over all the wiring at least 3 times wire for wire. when you do get it started the w/ the fluid its ok to drive no hesitations or anything just wont rev past 4k. We tried another dizzy in it and put this dizzy in another ls and it worked fine

also alot of people get the intake air temps confused... because of the extra in obd2 which is not used obd 1... so many headaches i just woke up or i'd explain more

but start with the cel light and let us know... if theres no cel

I'm a little interested too. My brother swapped a new motor into his prelude. not sure the specs but his wouldn't rev over 4 either. ran started and idled fine. just would go over 4. seemed to me the gas was cutting out or something, kinda lie a rev limiter, but no matter what we did we couldn't figurer it out. long story short we will never figure it out because he blew a timing belt and that wrecked the head, so now we are going to get a new enging and pop it in this spring.

its probably not this but do you know if the ecu is for an automatic? that may be the case. but i dont think that would cause it not to run. so idk just my 2 cents.

i had a DC and had a motor swap done, and it wouldnt go past 4k, i check everything and it ended up being a fuel injector problem, my freind told me that the engine was being save from being blown becuase it was runing on 3 pistons and the computer limited the rev to 4k, check the fuel injectors, if they are not giving proper fuel, it wont start correctly, or run correctly. let me know, juz trying to give u an idea
