Default mig vs tig ?

just wondering what are the major advantages over mig vs tig ? when building manifolds ? is it something to do with strength in the welds , apperance or what ? whats your opinions/thoughts on this subject ? might be a stupid question but why havent i seen any one mig a manifold yet ?

IT's tough to be accurate with heat control on a machine that has such a high deposition rate. You can't really apply enough heat for penetration when the weld pool gets too big.

tig for manifolds. downpipes and exhuast it doesnt really matter all that much.

I Mig'd mine coz i couldn't afford a tig welder for the nice pretty welds.

I've put a lot of miles on this manifold now & it's held up great.

either process is good as long as the base metal is being penetrated. Heck, I'd rock an oxycetylene as well, that's what I learned on.

GMAW for speed, GTAW for precision. For example, you wouldn't want to GTAW a trailer together, and you wouldn't want to GMAW a .004 stainless sheet.

Any pics of the finished product out of the car? What kinda mig welder did you used?
