Default rear discs on a Civic Wagon

Just got done doing an LS swap/Tein susp. and Energy bushings in my '91 Wagon and was planning on installing the GSR brakes off my old 91 hatch, but I came across the Wagon's unique rear trailing arms. They use the same ones obviously for the non 4wd versions. I looked closely at it and it seems like the discs could be made to fit with some modification to the existing trailing arm. I think the only other alternative would be to relocate the lower rear subframe to use the GSR trailing arms. Has anyone attempted the trailing arm modification? I hate drum brakes.

RT4wd rear trailing arms are different. do you have a 4wd? I have rear disk brakes for a wagon with the appropriate e brake cables for sale. 500 shipped.

this was my last project.

Am I to understand that the RT wagon has discs? Mine is a '91 2wd. The trailing arms are different than standard civic. The rear LCA is pushed further back to allow room for the axle shaft on the RT. The lower rear subframe is totally different also. I think the existing trailing arms could possibly be modified to accept the disc hubs. Has anyone tried this? I am not going to pay $500 for used stock rear discs

He probably made them. No wagons came with rear discs from the factory as far as I know.

Back to my original question then. Has anyone done the trailing arm modification I described? I don't really want to be the guinea pig here. I'm on a budget of $0 and a 5 gallon bucket of elbow grease.

Do not relocate your subframe.

Not really an answer but a source...

I remember a couple of years ago it was either Honda Tuning or Super Street that had a project Wagon and they acutally used the rear disc components from another car and fit it on the existing wagon trailing arm. Im sure you can order back issues from their sites... It was pretty detailed and involved a press and some parts swapping but came out really clean.

Yes.

If the op knows anything about cutting/welding he can make them for about $100-150$ in parts max. If he doesn't, he can have them made for 200$ in parts and labor max. If he has the parts already sitting around, it's free.

$500 can buy you a complete 4x114.3 ITR setup.

Like you said "If" and where'd you pull those numbers from? yea he could get 4x114 setup for that but then he'd have to do the same to those. That setup is from a DC2 and his car needs something from EF/DA to bolt up andsit right.

I pmed him 400 shipped with brake cables.

$50 for RTA's + Blown rear calipers + figure in resurfacing fee + new remanned calipers w/core charge + other misc crap you may need along the way comes out to 150-200 in parts. Current RTA's w/drums are free. Maybe another 50 in labor, but if highly doubtful.

Not to flame, but if you honestly spent $500+ (what you were asking for your otherwise stock rear disk setup) on the brakes and are trying to sell them for $500+, you really need to find a better source for parts/a shop that won't rip you off on labor (I.E. 300+ to measure, cut, and weld RTA's).

$500.00 + right now will get you a JDM EF9 frontend in decent shape off the boat in San Diego if you know the right sources, and quite literally "shipped."

i think the real problem here is you may not understand the rt4wd issue.....brake lines/e brake cables from ANY other model do not work because of the angle of the LCA and trailing arm and other issues...they have to be custom fabbed. I have an rt4wd and have compared side by side to see for myself. i would rather pay 500 for shuttle xer (whch has done this a few times...check out hondacivicwagon.com sometime) then to have some one 'fab them up' for 150 not know WTF they are really getting themselves into/doing at all...and pay for new brakes again in the end or worse...your life?? actually when you think about it...keep it stock and less risk entirely
