i have a 98 accord LX 4 dr, auto trans 2.2 engine.. i live in an area that has by far the worst roads in america!!! ive noticed that when i hit bumps and stuff that my front end takes it really hard like a popping noise sometimes when i dont even hit a big bump, its to the point where i dont even like goin over 50 on the main roads. One of my buddies told me that it is probably the struts, but i wanted to make sure and see what you guys on here think it is.. thanx alot

 

I wouldve guessed struts too.. Does the car bounce around alot when your driving?

 

yea i noticed that it bounces around alot more.. kind of an out of control feeling when i hit a decent size bump..

 

replace all 4 shocks

 

popping is usually a joint of some type or an engine mount

 

Check each corner of the car by putting your body weight on it so it drops drop. Then release your weight off the car. Your car should level it self out within 1-2 bounces. If it bounces more than that, bad shocks/struts. Kind of an easy 'at-home' test.
