Default Blown head gasket... looks pretty bad! Help pls? (pics inside)

Well I was on my way home from my grand mother birthday. (lol) When I decided to floor it. At first everything was fine then it felt like I lost all power. I loked behind and there was a huge cloud of white smoke. Like an idiot I decided to drive (~1/2mile) until I could fid a safe spot to pull over. Hopefully I didnt make it worth by doing that.

Anyway, it was dark as hell so I just towed the car home. I'm not a mechanic. I know very little about cars. But here what I noticed after looking at the car this morning.

1- No more coolant in the overflow and the radiator looks pretty empty too. There is some kind of white/brunish flakes in the radiator.

There is coolant in the oil.

There is coolant in cylinder 2 and 3. There was coolant on both spark plugs and it doesn't look very good in the there.

I haven't pulled the head because well... I don't know how. I'm gonna call a friend to see if he can help.

I'm guessing this is going to be an expensive one.

That sucks man, I feel for you. What I would suggest to do before you go pulling the head: 1) See if you can spin the motor over by hand, this will let you know if anything on the bottom end is bent or broken. 2) If the motor spins then I would do a leakdown test. I always like to have an idea of whats going on before I go tearing into the engine.

Looks pretty serious. I've blown a number of head gaskets and I've never seen that much junk in the cylinders. Take the head off, I bet it's more than a simple blown head gasket.

great advice, always have a game plan, and leakdown will really help you narrow things down

I hope nothing in the block is broken.

Let Wakie pull the head and let us know how it turn.

Good luck

This sucks I just built the block like a year and a half ago. lol

So I guess I'm gonna have to find a stock block. Because I definitely can't afford dumping a few grands in another engine build.

I didn't feel at the time that the money that I would have needed to spend to get the block sleeved was justified considering I only have a ~300whp setup.

I guess I was wrong. lol

you dont always have to sleeve, with a good tune there are many people making 300+ hp with just pistons and rods

Well you guys were right. My friend looked at the engine today. He tried to do a leak down test but that didn't work that well. The leak was too big. lol

So he lifted the head and saw the horror scene. The sleeve of Cyl. 2 is cracked. The head is also damaged but might not be crapped.

All in all it sucks. lol

I'm looking at my options right now. But so far it looks like I'm going to remove the turbo kit and go back to stock.

I'm trying to save some money to buy a house. I can't keep dumping a few grand in my car every year when something breaks. lol

I'm thinking about dropping a cheap swap in there. Like a B18B or a B20. I don't know much about swaps. How complicated is it to swap a non-vtec engine in a Civic Si?

easy, everything should bolt right up and wiring harness should just clip right in if u get an obd1 motor assuming ur car is obd1. sale that kit and buy an ls motor for arolund 500 bucks or so and u should be good or b20 either way GL
