Default Weak Links of B-series Engines?

First of all, let me just say What's Up to everybody here, I'm a noob to this website, and I'm a noob to the import scene altogether. Actually, I'm getting out of the Mustang scene, because I decided to try something different.

So my question being, I have a 94' EG Hatchback, and I'm doing some research on a B-series swap (B18B). My first question being, what would you consider some of the weak links to these B-series engines, assuming somebody was to try to get some considerable power out of one?

I'm completely new to these engines, the main reason I'm asking. What to look for? Rod bolts, the rods themselves, are the crankshafts pretty reliable, what would let go under a considerable amount of power?

Thanks for your help,
-Ant-

100 % OEM b18 motors are know to handle 350-400 WHP.

Weak links are piston ring lands. OEM pistons fail around 16 to 18 psi on average.

Stock sleaves tend to crack around 18 to 24 psi. or 450+ whp. Which ever comes first.

This is only again .. common or average data that i have personal done along with gathered from others.

So 350-375whp could be considered reliable?

What would be the most dependable way of getting that, and how would you go about doing that? What kind of track E.T.'s could you see from that?

the motor you are talking about is a ls motor non vtec... they have a 89 mm stroke compared to the gsr which is 87mm. the motor you have will make nice torque as well as hp... piece together a turbo kit... and run a t3/t4 57 trim on around 15 lbs and make like 300 - 330 and call it a day.

Your talking about the engine I want (LS) or the original one that's in the car right now? I'm really not that interested in wasting my time with the original one.....

It has enough blow-by as it is. Putting together a turbo-kit for the engine that's in it right now would be asking for a disaster at this point lol. BTW I'm planning on this being my daily driver...

Score a 100% OEM LS motor (b18a/b NON VTEC) Swap it in your ride. Enjoy it.

Gather a turbo kit. Injectors ,fuel pump, and fuel pressure regulator is the TOP ITEMS long with a TUNEABLE ECU. Once you have all this. You can boost up to about 12-14 daily.. making about 280 to 310 AT the wheels!

ECU, fuel, turbo kit = 300 daily. all day everyday.

Gapping your spark plugs down to 24 or 22 is a must also... if you want to get a long life out of the motor.
