Default Civic EF, EG, EK etc.

Hi guys, i know this is probably a real noob question, but i was looking online at car parts and some of them said JDM EF parts, others JDM EG parts, etc. and i was wondering what the difference between the EF, EG, and EK are. is it just what year they were made or is it just different types of trim, like LX and DX etc. Thanks for the help guys!

Quick nomenclature for the generation of Civics here in the US. In Japan and elsewhere, they are chassis codes for the models.

EF = 88-91 Civic
EG = 92-95 Civic
EK = 96-00 Civic
