whats up HT.I wanted to see if anyone had some tips or a DIY on the easiest way to remove it.

I dont know about the lift part Im swapping tranny at home.My gay *** LX to a s2o SI tranny for my JDM D15B Vtec

 

What chassis is this?

I just did a swap on my EK and I actually hammered that pin out from the top with a long pipe and a 8mm punch at the end. Came out no big deal. Don't know if you can do it that way on a EG though.

 

Eg chasis Lx 4 door

Ditto that, I just changed trans (mine was grinding like hell and since there was a warranty w/ a core exchange price I just got a new one) before the school year started (maybe 4 months ago?) and I did the same method (hammer + punch). Although I didn't note the size of the punch like you guys did, I just got one who's tip fit in the spring pin hole. Came out rather easily on both trans's (the new one I had had the linkage cut off, so I had to remove it from that too).

 

use punch driver from the bottom and light hammer, took me 1 minute just for that pin

 

I use a 7/32 hex bit on the end of two long 3/8 extensions and feed it down by the throttle body from the top. Works like a charm.

 

is the bitch pin the one in the shift linkage?

That's too much of a pain in the *** compared to hitting it a few times with a hammer.

SNAP ON part number ppr10
Its a 5/16" roll pin punch- costs about 15 dollars and is the correct tool.

 

Has anybody tried to replace the pin with a 5/16 grade 8 bolt?

I'm thinking about doing that on the race car for next season. BTW it's a B series tranny.

 

I use a long A/C compressor bolt and a mini sledgehammer because it has extra weight and hits harder. Doesn't take too long once you get the hang of it!

no, you'll regret it

the pin is not realllly 5/16.. its a bit larger, it compresses when inside there like piston rings do to hold tension against the two pieces. the bolt will work but the shifter will feel like a sloppy vagina. (first gear at the keys, second hits the seat, thirds flys through the radio, forth smacks the e-brake, and fifth is out the window.. dramatization but you get the picture)

another tip for those pins is go to honda and buy a few and keep them around. they are only intended to be used once and every time you reuse it- it will get more difficult.

and if you can't use a lift, hammer it out from the top with ~3ft extension and a socket on the end that fits tightly over the punch

Wow that's wierd man. I have a 92 LX with the D15B in it with the SAME mods. Damn car flies doesn't it?

 

A 1/4" drive ratchet extension works just as well as any punch and it's much more convenient

I do keep a couple in the tool box.

 

Just get a small punch and hammer it out. Takes less then a minute

what's the part number or the honda's name? How much?

 

Well i tried to buy the pin and it was special order,so im going to reuse the same one.Will this be a bad idea i dont have time to wait for the pin its my DD and i need it for work monday I really dont think they have ever tried removing it the tranny is old and grinds like expletive and the ISB is shot. And as for the guy saying LX D15B flies **** mine feels slow as *****! maybe the tranny is really screwed,even though ive beaten b16 sometimes but punching hard as hell tranny doesnt help! Maybe now it will be a little funner its going in with ES bushings and a Skunk2 Dual Bend Short Shifter Thanx for the help so far guys
