Default Is it true?

I only glanced because I didn't have time but does the manual say you can go 10k miles without an oil change (EP3)?

i'm sure there wouldn't be that much of a problem if you just do normal driving. I usually go 5-7k before an oil change. Usually it gets to 7k

I've never seen an owner's manual with 3,000 mile oil change intervals.

On Porsches it says like 15,000 miles... Wouldn't follow that though...

Ive been using Synthetic since I bought my Type S, and I usually go 5-6K miles before I change. No problems so far.

Yeah, the manuel does say that. But I think its a good idea to change it every 3,000.

I doubt Honda would put 10k or whatever it is in your owners manual if you couldn't do it. They pride themselves on the longevity of there cars, and that would not be beneficial to them at all. Especially considering if you did this from new, and something went wrong with your car, you'de most likely still be covered by warranty. I think if it says 10k, then you're probably good to go for 10k. I'm not saying you cant change it every 3k or 6k, just that I doubt they would lie to us.

/\ what is it that you know, that thousands of dealerships don't?

Dealerships sell cars,
"Tell them its ok to go for 10,000 miles... we lose a little in maintanence revenue$, but thats ok!
the rings will be so worn at 100,000 miles, they'll Have to buy a new car, or keep driving an oil burner!"
BRILLIANT!

i say it's not good to go over 5,000 ...but if it looks dark after 3,000 i'll change it!
check it often, and look at the color, not just "Wheres the line?"

the contaminents eat away your engine components-
just because your oil doesn't "Break-Down" doesn't mean it's good to have that crud floating thru it's veins!
your filter should be changed everytime also- same reason!

someone at work said they have a car that needs no oil change for 100,000 miles!
i'm like "WTF- you sure?"
i can't confirm it, but it wouldn't surprise me if he was told that by a salesman!
