Default The First Ever ITR in the U.S?

This magazine dated back to 1998 claimed that this covered JDM front ITR is the first ITR ever in the U.S. soil. Some of you Norcal guys may remember this.

if you read it, it must be true....
wouldnt doubt it though, not many ITRs around in 98' and who knows when the owner actually brought it over.

The first R had a sunroof?

In 1998, wasn't there already 320 97s here already?

I don't see side moldings on it. I think the picture just look like it.

I remember an article in Sport Compact Car that pitted the "newly released" '97 USDM ITR against a homebuilt GSR (with all JDM R parts, including front end) Anyone else remember that article? I think that was the first time I heard about the R. Been in love and wanting one ever since. (I don't even think I had my liscence yet, LOL)

Yes I have that mag here somewhere . It was the 97 USDM ITR against the red project GSR that they had built using, DC sports header, DC intake, DC exhaust, DC strut bars, eibach springs and I forgot what shocks, 17 inch wheels. THE ITR won in everything I remember

I noticed the other day while tossing old SSC and SS mags that pretty much any Integra with a JDM front and R wing was called a Type R.

IMO , the original topic here is a fake R.

Not in 1997 they started arriving at dealerships late 1996.

Anyway the topic car isn't an R, but it's a bad *** Integra...

that article seems to be a little confusing. It says it was brought over in 1996 as parts, but then it says it was a US Acura integra that was converted. which one was it?

I always thought Comptech had the first ITR in the US. I believe they had/have a preproduction model that was used for marketing purposes. If you look at the number plaque it says 1997-0000. Every time I went to their shop they had it stashed away in a corner.

Comptech very weel has the first ever ITR in the State as Acura has been funding their racing program forever.
