hey i lost fourth and fifth gear in my d15y7 and have been lookin on craigslist for that same tranny but no one has one. all i found were ex's do ex's have a longer ratio than the one that came with my car? what are the gear ratio's for EX gears. NOOB to this site thanks in advance
An EX transmission will bolt up fine to you y7 block. An EX transmission has shorter gearing similar to the (s20)Si trans, but the Si transmission has even shorter gearing. When your buying a EX transmission look for the B000 stamp to make sure it is in fact an EX trans. An A000 stamp will indicate it is a CX, DX or LX trans and those are the ones with the longer gear ratios.

I think he means D16y7. But more information about your car would help.

I thought maybe he hit "5" instead of "6" and meant to type D16Y7.
Anyways yeah if it is a 96-00 Civic with a D16Y7 then an EX transmission will be an upgrade over the stock tranny anyways. The EX tranny has the shortest overall gearing of all D series transmissions.
