Ok so I have decided to just go ahead and fix the dang rust instead of swapping everything out into a new shell. I dont have time for that BS. The body shop quoted me $750 for everything, including painting the back half (SWEET). All I need to get now is a new set of rockers and bumper support. I already got the patch panels.
If anyone can help me out as to where I can locate both rockers (new) and rear bumper rebar, I would GREATLY appreciate it. OR if someone knows where to get a rocker template that I can take to a metal shop, that would be fine. These are the only two things standing in between me and driving the car I love.
So any help would make this guy's day so much better! Ive been searching for about 2 weeks with no luck, besides Honda OEM, which is way out of my price range.
Ok on to the carnage!
Help me get my love back on the road!

I really need to put my hks back on my hatch, already.
Thats a lot of damn rust, you must love your crx. I'm trashing my one shell and swapping everything over to my other because of the rust and mine isn't nearly as bad as yours.
Their fixing everything for $750, thats a steal if its quality work!

I have seen worse I bought a crx for an engine. after pulling the motor I started stripping good parts off of it and I leaned on the rear quarter and it broke. most of the rear of the car was cardboard and bondo. it was pretty bad. I would check local junk yards for the stuff not sure whats out there but somebody has to have one junked somewhere.
You might check the FAQ there is some rust repair threads there as I recall. If you can search rust specific to the CRX forum current / archived you will find some GOOD info.
This is for you for saving a CRX.

Are you talking about the exhaust? Its a Bassani, it came with the Jackson racing stage 2 kit the original owner put on it. Cam, ceramic header, and full exhaust. Ive got the original 1988 JR catalog and receipts!
This car has a history. Originally owned by a retired Lambo dealer who moved to the beautiful mountains of NC. Hence, rust.
Thanks for the advice so far

Yeah, I was talking about the exhaust. It looks identical to my hks. What the hell is a Bassani? Did some company make a knock-off of the hks
I just looked up that company and they don't list any exhaust systems for a honda.

i don't think thats true at all. if this shop is doing true panel replacement and it needs any of the flat part of the unibody needs to be replaced, he can bead roll it and patch it up better then the oem piece. and as far as the tack welds on the actual panels that he'll need to do, they can be done better and more numerous if allowable as well.

here's a
from me as well for saving it.
Actually the rust isn't that bad, if you have a look at some of the work being done on other different makes/models (somewhat older cars), you'll see a lot of people starting with nothing more that a giant ball of rust and then making a nice car out of it!!

You get what you pay for... Either don't get excited or get ready to pay more.
for restoration.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Yeah he said he would do it for 750, I know...its crazy. The other body shop quoted me double, then called me and told me they didnt even want to do it. And I know the guy thats doing it now and he is real good.
I have to supply the metal though, maybe thats why its so cheap.
And YES, Bassani DID make a muffler for the crx. It sounds amazing.
Did you know that there is a car&driver where they put a JR supercharged ’88 Si against a porsche and a ferrari? I dont know how the article turned out. I read in the JR catalog that it did well against two exotics!
And thats why its worth saving.

Update:
Panels are patched....
W00t JDM snowflakes to the left... and as a side note: every rim is unique
Of course the rebar will need to be replaced.
Tennessee is beautiful this time of year...
Man its great to see this car with smooth rear wheel arches for the first time.
And I almost like the flat black look....

Just having those patch panels in there makes a huge difference.
My previous Rex was in New England all if it's life and had been repaired once and was starting to bubble through yet again. For a little while I had considered having it all cut out and re-welded but decided to hunt around for a Rex with a solid body.
I was lucky enough to find one here in Maine that had come from Arizona.
