Just out of curiosity. When do you guys shift and down shift. What's recommended in the manual or different?

He's saying

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Harman07 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Just out of curiosity, when do you guys shift and down shift? Do you shift when recommended in the manual or different?</TD></TR></TABLE>

I shift at 3-4k while just driving around.

I'm not exactly sure what the manual says, but if you search I'm sure you'll find the answer.

I shift at 3-4k too during normal driving. or even lower while cruising .... I believe if you shift on your max. torque band, it will help your MPG.

3-4 normal driving... Downshift usually by match reving, and I'll start downshifting at about 2,5 rpms.
And when I race, I don't shift at 7.5 like almost everyone has said on here, I go to redline. Whats up with the short shifting!?

well, it depends on whether your talking about an si or non-si model. The owner's manual will tel you the best time to shift.

I shift at 3k 99% of the time sometimes 3.5 k crusing

Race I just redline

And downshifting I rarley do but if I do I use a combo of the brakes and tranny I don't rev match just cause I'm never going to jump too high in the rpms when Im doing it.

And I rev match if I need to get around someone or speed up!

I usually shift at 4.5K and make sure that the car is cruising at or around 3-3.5k. That's normal for me. Otherwise, I shift according to how much passing power I need, be it highway or street.

You'll get the hang of it, just find the cars sweet spot for normal driving. Mines, listed in the first sentence and no thats not shifting WOT.

One more quick question. Do you guys use 6th gear for normal cruising? I usually go 6th gear only at 45mph+ just to save some gas. Hope it's not putting stress on my tranny.
