Default Spark, fuel, air, no start.

Alrighty this is starting to tick me off. Two days ago I was leaving for school when at about 3k rpm the car surged hard, after a second it smoothed out and everything seemed fine. I got out onto the road and it decided to do it again but this time it cut out completely. I tried restarting it but it refuses to start.

That puts me in my current predicament. I've check fuel and te injectors are still spraying. Checked the spark and everything i fine there as well. I also decided to check air and fuel and used some starting fluid down the intake manifold as my friend floored it and cranked the engine. Conveniently it ignited and blew a fireball right in my face.

So, any ideas? I've changed to ecu, sparkplugs, main relay, and have done a compression check. I'm stumped and my burnt arm, facial, and chest hair stinks.

1989 CRX SI, stock.

whats the compression? how good is the spark? are the grounds good? any codes?

Compression is good all across the board, and the spark is very strong. Sadly the ecu is not throwing any codes prior to or after the car deciding to kill over. Grounds wise I redid them a few months ago and have had no difficulties up until this point.

I'm going to change the map sensor to a working one today as well as pull the valve cover off and inspect the timing belt for any missing teeth that may indicate a timing jump.

Anything else you guys can think of?

I was thinking timing myself. check the belt if thats good the distributor could be bad.
