i need new tires and i heard alot of good about Kumho. just wondering if i someone could tell me which is better. i did some searching so i know spt's are made for summer and asx's are all season. winter is coming up and i guess the spt's are not good for wet traction/snow. and the asx's are not good in heat or during the summer. i live in california so it gets pretty hot here sometimes. so i just need some experience opinions.
especially if you've used both tires. what did you think of each. when did you use them, winter/summer, dry/wet, thanks.

If it doesn't snow but gets cold enough for all season tires, why not get both?
IMO SPTs are best bang for buck in its class.
Nice dry grip, great wet grip, and low road noise.
Use them in the summer and slap on ASXs for the winter.
Depending on temperature in your area you might be able to use SPTs all year around.
Something that a Mid-West/EastCoaster can only dream about

It's strictly a temperature thing. The SPT is a summer tire. It's outstanding in rain! It just doesn't do well in snow or frigid temperatures.

All-seasons like the ASX are needed if you have to drive in snow or frigid cold. The trade-off is that they don't do as well as summer tires in moderate to warm temperatures.

If you live in California and you don't go driving in the mountains when the roads there are snow-covered, you'll be fine with the SPT all year round. If you need to drive on snow occasionally, then the ASX is a better choice.

 

ok spt's are what i want then but...ive looked everywhere and i cant find a good price on them in 205/50 15. tirerack had them for $63 but are out or something. discount direct or something like that has them for $89 can i get them any cheaper anywhere else? everywhere local is a grip as well.

Huh? According to the Tire Rack website, they are IN STOCK for $63 plus shipping. Shipping is usually $9-12 per tire.

Huh? Discount Tire Direct's website has them for $71 per tire with free shipping. Which probably works out a couple bucks cheaper than the Tire Rack, depending on exactly how much the Tire Rack charges for shipping.
