Default It's finally over with

So I thought I was doing good last week. Home owners insurance was going to give me around $2,700 for my lost personal items I had in my Type R. Then I called my car insurance claim person yesterday after she was on vacation all last week and none of their co-workers never returned my calls. So they were still trying to give me $9,525. I didn't think it was going to change since its been like this since their first offer 2 weeks ago. I was damn near ready to just take the 9 and put it together with the personal money and get close to 12,000. I told them I didn't want to have to bring a lawyer into this seeing how I had sent over 15 ITR's forsale for the money I thought my car was worth. They said they couldn't use what I sent in because it wasn't their sources. So I told them to go on auto-trader and search any distance for a 1998 Integra and look at the most expensive cars then compare it to the picture I had sent them of my car then factor in I only had 51k on my car. I'm glad I didn't take the first offer because they called me today and they are writing me a check for $14,000. I'm so damn happy, I feel like i beat the insurance company haha. So now I have to send them the title and pay off the white ITR then the black one is in my name. to everyone for wishin me the best of luck through-out the whole thing

$14k is still kind of low for your ITR but it is way better than what they offered before

Good job

I'm glad it worked out well, but I sitll don't think you "won." That sounds negative but I'm tired of reading about other individuals having to battle with their insurance ONLY to get what they originally deserved or less.

That being said I am glad you are happy and that you are already in a new R. Cheers

Good ****, same thing happen to me a few years ago when I was hit by an uninsured driver. My insurnace company first offered me $12,000 but I ended up getting $21,000 after using autotrader ads.

Thanks everyone! I'll be happy once the check is in my hands at the beginning of the week. To answer a question, the car still has not been found.

i got 7k for a gsr and 2.5 for going to the hospital (no major injuries) and got to keep the car. sold the full swap for 3k (57,000miles) and traded the shell for a running 92 integra. i originally paid 7.5k, so it went pretty good for me.

you definetally deserve more for a low mileage type R.

I mean i'd love to say congrats, it's a positive note after a score of negative ones..

however 14k for a 98 with 51k on the clock makes me vomit in my mouth.

Makes me realize the assraping I'd get if something would happen to mine.

this is why i've taken out an agreed valuation on my car.

if the worst were to happen, they pay me the amount its worth without having to battle for it

congrats for sticking out and getting more money. i think all insurance companies lowball in the hopes you take the first cheque.

insurance seems to be legalised theft at times

Ge-off, how much different is your rate for that coverage than standard coverage would be? I know it varies everywhere, of course, just curious.

Good for you Dan! F**K insurance companies....When my TL got hit and I needed a rear bumper they were telling me that there going to use a reconditioned oem bumper...bascially they would find a TL that was hit in the front, and take the rear bumper off of it and use that. It wasnt even the same color! I said " No, No, No..' just like Amy Winehouse, and demanded a new OEM bumper from Acura.I Got it and now its fine, but what ***** with these insurance compaines! You pay out of your *** ,and when something happens they want to give you, used f**king parts. They say its how they keep there rates so low. No! You know what keeps rates low, catching scumbags who steal cars, and other scumbags who set up insurance scams. Thats going to keep rates low. Any way, keep Rocking Dan!
