because d00d. yellow bulbs fade because of the heat. yep they do. whereas yellow capsules will never fade because the glass is not dipped or stained. you see yellow bulbs you can scratch of that film/paint whatever you want to call it. capsules are real yellow glass.
thats why.

I have yet to read any reports of quality bulbs such as PIAA's Plasma Ion Yellow fading over time, and it would certainly be much easier than trying to retrofit the relatively large Lexus filters (designed for 9006 bulb housings, not the Prelude's H3) into the fog lamp housings. It's your choice, though.

yeh well think about it this way. if yellow caps cost me 30 bucks then thats a one time cost. piia yellow bulbs cost like 50 bucks and they blow out at least once a year. and other knock off brands fade (i know from personal experience)
so it just makes more sense to me to buy caps and use them as long as i want. u kno?
but if its too much trouble i might just try piias. i'm sure they might last longer since the quality is probably better.

By all means, please direct me to these accounts of faded PIAA bulbs.

Any colored bulb will fade. I've used blue, yellow, and "HID" purple colored bulbs and they've all faded. I've had friends with with Red bulbs that fade to pink, blue bulbs that fade to green, and I'm not talking about cheap bulbs. I used to waste my money on Piaa Ion Plasma H3 bulbs, Piaa H4 plasma GTX bulbs and would have to buy a new set every year.
I've also used yellow spray paint and yellow laminx film, and nothing compares to yellow capsules. Well maybe 3000K HID's, but those are over $180 for a good brand.
Yellow spray paint starts fogging up and looks getto, laminx starts fading and looks dull after time, and yellow lightbulbs, which are dull to begin with, get even duller after time.
Here's a comparion of yellow light bulbs and yellow capsules.
