Not worth the hassle when you can buy a ZC or a sohc vtec for very cheap these days.

Do a search, it's been covered.

QFT.

Possible, but not worth the extra effort when easier swaps are available for dirt cheap. Especially considering that it only has a few more HP than a D16A6/SOHC ZC.

Don't open your mouth if you don't know what you're talking about.

OP, what engine do you have? If it's a D16A6, don't even bother with the swap, you're literally only talking a few extra HP. Plus, there's a much better aftermarket for that motor.

we did this in my buddys crx... use your old tranny...which will line up the three tranny mounts.. then you have to custom make a mount for the drivers side....they dont even sell the mount so it seriously has to be custom... not a hard job at all though...if you need more info you should be able to search on googleand youll find somethig about it... good luck

The only thing about this is, you need to position the engine perfectly in the bay, and you have to worry about axle angle and all that. I suppose you could do it with string to ensure the engine is straight, but personally I wouldn't bother, especially for 118hp.

if the D16A1 is 86-87 (brown valve cover) it is only 112hp and doesn't have electronic advance ignition - will be harder to wire up the ignition - 88-89 electronic advance distributors will not bolt to the 86-87 head

to the OP.....

why not buy a SOHC ZC from H motors? it'll bolt right up easily, has plenty of aftermarket support, and will cost a heck of a lot less than putting the d16a1 engine in. all said and done.

yo really dont wanna do that swap. i did it in my 88 civic hatch and the motor mount on the left side of the car is always going to break after a while then the cam gears will sit on it once it does break.

not a safe swap at all

Wait a second, you want to throw a Y7 head on a vtec block? Why on earth would you want to do that? If anything, get a D16A6 block and a y8 head and have a high compression mini-me.

Ok, but that will still make less power than a stock D16A6.
