Car started pinging, please help
1995 Integra non Vtech. Changed the timing belt, tensioner, water pump, all three belts, rocker arm cover gasket, and starter.
After the install the car stared to ping which it has not done before. The number one piston was at TDC before the timing belt install and everything else seems to be working fine. If you give it some gas in any gear when you are getting to speed or cruising and then say, floor it, it will ping.
We backed the timing off and made sure it was at factory specs and the timing marks are lined up perfectly.
Just seems weird that it would start to ping after this install. Maybe something to do with the distributor? Plugs? Wires?
What causes pinging to happen on these cars. I am not a Honda guy but I am trying to figure out this weird problem. Any help would kick much ***.
