Default DOHC ZC camshaft Question!

Well... i got a Dohc zc about 2 weeks ago and the top end was given to me in ziplock bags and what not. The rocker arms were all labeled so I'm good there but how do i figure out which camshaft goes on the intake side and which goes on the exhaust side.

And I also need to know how i go about replacing these because one of the camshafts i have is broken where it connects to the distributor, so if i have the exhaust broken would a 88-89 d16a1 cam work for the exhaust?

and if the intake is broken where do i get that?

he asked about the d16a1 cam. not the d16a6 cam.

i'm sure the a1 cam is interchangeable.

More then likely but I beleive it's weaker cam.

I beleive Delta or Exospeed have aftermarket ZC cams, look into it.

the d16a1 exhaust came SHOULD work fine...from what i've read in write ups and such it has a slightly less agressive profile......my advice would be to either find a set of both good ZC cams, or both good d16a1 cams, as i cant imagine running a combo of the two will run right, but i could be wrong...check out http://www.thezcr.com and search there, its a pleathora of zc info

The d16a1 cam will work but I would not use it. jgenginedynamics.com sells cams and they are not too expensive. I also have a extra set sitting somewhere. my cams also say int or exh on them.

camshaft specs:

D16A1 - lift (net) = .220" - lift (gross) = .385" - duration @ 0.050" lift = 202
ZC - lift (net) = .236" - lift (gross) = .413" - duration @ 0.050" lift = 212

there you have it....if you ran a hybrid (d16a1 exhaust cam and ZC intake cam) you'd run into timing issues....pick up a matching set of either type or pick up a set of the jg's......
