I put in a jdm b18c with 28k in my 95 hatch. Everything runs smooth exept that it always pops out of 5th gear. I checked the shift linkage three times for any binding or friction that may knock it out but everything checks out good. Also i noticed that when i started the car the valve cover gasket was put on wrong and a couple other stupid little things needed to be fixed leading me to assume that the last person that worked on the engine/tranny was a idiot. So maybe he fouled somthing up. Anyway, the thing is brand new so i dont think the shift forks can be worn already, or maybe someone forgot to put in the spring loaded bearings that hold it in gear. If anyone can give me some pointers it would be very much appreciated.

 

did you change your tranny fluid yet? i bought a motor from hmotorsonline.com and got everything running perfect except for the poping out of 5th problem....i forgot to change the tranny fluid and after i did that its perfect now

 

really?! thats were i got mind from. thats the only thing i didnt do yet. i changed the oil and radiator fluids and the rest of the routine maintainence exept that and said i would do it soon. i'll do that and see if the problem goes away. thanx

 

if it gets low on oil it will pop out of 5th gear non stop I bet if you pull the plug you'll find that its low. besides that, they dont ship tranny's with oil in it...its considered hazmat. The only oil in it will be what dripped off the gears and what not.

 

u 2 guys are absolutely right. i checked the drain plug b4 i filled the fluid and it trickled out. put some new stuff in it and VOALA. thanx fellaz
