hey h-t, i have a crx with a b16a, mods ..etc.

every morning, warm or chilly outside, ill go to start my crx up, and when it go's to turn on, it just dies, i have to do this about 3 times for it to start up. its really weird, its been doing it lately since i have gotten my skunk2 intake manifold and 68mm throttle body on.

battery is new

most likely u have a leak between your head and you intake mani or the TB and IM. cousing it to leak air out and turn off till it gets warm

 

Get the car running and spray carb cleaner around where the gasket is on the tb/intake manifold and see if it revs up. If so, you have a leak.

Intake gases need velocity to have any sort of oomph in the low RPM range. You just completely eliminated that velocity, the subsequent turbulence created in the cylinder and by doing so, any real chance of having enough power in the low RPM to keep alive. I may be wrong but if it's not a manifold/vacuum leak then your throttle body and the manifold itself are the problems. If you have a turbo then you've got low velocity and low flow at your intake, no bueno.

Do you have aftermarket cams or cam gears?

 

no i do not, and my turbo is not on right now, about to be, but want to fix this problem before i take apart the header, etc. for the turbo.

i mean, sometimes its fine...but say, from ... 10pm tonight, until 10 in the morning when i crank it, it will act like its on...then die. then ill crank it again, and it will be fine
