95 Accord EX Smoking/Can't Turn Off

95 Accord EX Smoking/Can't Turn Off
My Mom just sent me this email today, I have a 95LX, she has a 95EX ... any idea what she's talking about?......

My poor car is not doing as good as yours! Yesterday, I went out and started it--never heard such a loud, grinding, pounding continuous noise--quickly shut it off. Only problem--it wouldn't shut off. So ignition to on again--then tried to back up, thinking it might work its way out of the problem--no luck--and still wouldn't turn off, but continued the horrible noise. Had Dan come out--no luck. Called our mechanic and held the phone to the car so he could hear it. About then, the smoke started pouring out of it, so he said he would come right over. Before he got there, the car just totally shut down and smoked for a while. They towed it in today--no word on prognosis! So, it is "driving giant van time" for me!

sounds like when my friends jeep did this lol. his starter shorted out and got stuck on and would keep the engine rotating, the only way to turn it off was to unhook the battery.
anyways, his engine eventually seized from lack of coolant but thats a different story

i'm impressed, sony!! good call ... here's the email from Mom, i told her in an email that it might be a starter based on your post (hence her "as you guessed" comment):

$350 revived my car! New starter (as you guessed) and some burned wires, etc.--also have to take it back next week to change transmission fluid and have brakes checked. Much cheaper than the new car that Dan and I figured we would have to be shopping for this weekend.

lol well im glad she got it fixed. you should have her check around in there, sounds like something got into the electrical or something..
