Default crank hard to move?

how tough to move should the crank be? the crank is installed in my gsr block and all the mains are torqued down. i dont have the crank pulley or anything on it, so i have been trying to rotate it by hand and cant get it to move?

I have a B16 and it gets REALLY hard to turn on the compression stroke unless I'm wearing gloves and I can grip it better. And I'd venture to say without the crank pulley on it it's gonna be harder to turn because you don't have as much leverage.

*Edit* Try putting a pair of vice grips on it or shove a really big wrench/screw driver in it and see if it eases up any.

whenever pistons sit at the same level it be the hardest to get the crank moving.
as said above hook up a torque wrench and measure how much torque it takes to get the crank moving.

how do you suggest doing it? the crank pulley isnt on, so neither is the crank bolt. you are only suppose to rotate the crank counter clockwise, so im not sure how i cant do it

youre never supposed to rotate in opposite direction of motor rotation...but anyways put a crank bolt on it and t. wrench it...is thing going for a rebuild or no? because if it is start taking that thing apart to better diagnose the problem...

Check your main cap direction... arrows face the crank pulley....

impacted the crank pulley bolt on and then rotated it with a socket. moved no problem. i think my main cap with the one on it faces in though. hmmm. should fix that.

The main caps need to be in the right location and facing the correct direction.Period.
