Im just curious... Do you guys use the 6th gear on side streets? Any replys will be appriciated.

50+ MPH and I'm usually in 6th.

So is it bad to be on 6th gear if its less than 50 mph?

 

Not bad... just no power in 6th gear going less than 50

 

I drop it into 6th around 40mph.

Anything below 45 mph or about 2k RPMs I personally think is bad for the engine. It just 'sounds' like the engine is straining, and I'm sure it's not easy on the engine to pulling 3000 lbs at 1800 RPMs. I read somewhere that a scanguage also noted that gas consumption at 45 MPH was best in 5th gear.

yeah 3000 RPM is optimal good gas economy. and no choking on the engine. i read that somewhere too. there was a popular post about a month or two ago
