Default Lenso VPD on street?

Ok, here's the deal... I already read through 14 pages of archived threads about lenso's. After sorting through all of the for sale threads I really only found 2 threads that even mentioned this.

Has anyone run Lenso VPD's on the street?

I don't care what you think they look like. They wouldn't be on the street much. The car is not my daily driver, It's just for fun on the weekends. Oh, and I'm talking about 13X7.5 on all four corners. I know guys use them for autocross, just wondering about occasional street use.

TIA

the issue with 13x7.5 wheels for street use is that there are very few good tires available in sizes that will fit. The autocrossers who use the Lensos are most often running CSP (the street prepared class where the crxen and miata run) that allows differing wheel sizes AND race tires.
The STS/2 (street touring classes) only allow different wheel sizes, and insist on street tires, and ive heard from several very capable ST drivers tha if they could get capable tires in the smaller diameter they would definitely be using something like the lensos. However, the dearth of available, quality street tires almost necessitates using 15+" wheels.

Pretty much the only non-race tire available with sizes that will fit those wheels is the Sumitomo HTR 200, whis is a very old compound and design- released sometime back in 2001.

Thanks for the info

I had been worried about tires.... I noticed I couldn't find much other than the sumitomos you mentioned.

Guess I'll have to look at 15's.

You seem like a knowledgable guy, any suggestions?

What kind of car are these going on (year, model, version)? That determines the 15" tire size you need, which determines the availability of the best tires for your needs.

Any track/autocross driving, or just normal street driving (even if just for fun on weekends)?

I'm hoping to get into autocrossing once the car is finished. I've just never had a car that wasn't my DD. This car is just for fun, it will be driven on the streets on weekends.

It's an EF (ED rather) civic hatchback with a b16, USDM ITR tranny (4.4 FD)

Eibach sportline on factory struts (upgrading once everything else is sorted and I learn a little more about spring rates.. lol)
MFactory rear suspension (spherical bearings )

Tires don't have to last very long, but I don't wanna spend $200 per tire.

Hopefully this info will give you something to work with. I appreciate all of the input

Yokohama Advan A048
BF Goodrich Drag Radials
Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R

Top notch 15" tires listed for a non-daily car that sacrifices tread wear for traction. You will NOT be disappointed with any of these tires. Have fun
