Default code 7 tps wiring issues

I have a 92 lx sedan that is throwing code 7 (tps). I have replaced the sensor itself but it still throws the code I checked the voltage at the connector and 2 wires have 5v and one ground When I got the car the vss sensor and wires where melted do the vss and tps share the same 5v source? Before i remove the harness and start tracing wires is there any way that the harness is shorted inside? I am also having problems with the alternator, the light stays on until i go over 10 mph wtf would cause this?

I haven't had much time to work on this issue but today I messed with it for a while. With the connector unplugged I get 5v and ground on the outside 2 wires but i get 3v on the middle signal wire wtf??

the 5V and ground are correct.
the VSS and TPS get power from different places. (VSS=12V, TPS=5V)

with it unplugged the signal line will float, your reading is not something to be worried about.

with it plugged in and the key in Run (II) without the engine running, you should have ~.5 on the middle wire.
wide open throttle should be ~4.5V
(same with the engine running, but checking for WOT with the engine running is not good for things)

if the middle wire has 4.5V at idle and .5V at WOT, then the ground and 5V wires are switched.

as far as your alternator issue... make sure the belt is not loose and slipping, have the alternator checked at a parts store, double check your battery connections and check your ground cables. (trans to chassis and chassis to battery specifically)

Well I changed the throttle body today and the code went away go figure. I had to make a gasket for temporary use as no parts stores stock it for some reason wtf. Now that that issue is cleared up now I have to get this alternator glitch fixed but I think I will make another thread for that if changing the alternator doesn't fix it.
