ABS in a hatch?
why?
abs dosent stop the car any faster (its slower actually)
just helps you maintain control if you skid
it could cost a lot of money to do this.
just use poor mans abs (pump your foot on the pedal fast)

Yes, it IS possible. I swapped the complete ABS system from a 95 EX into my 92 SI hatch. Its really not as complicated as everyone seems to think it is IF you get all the parts you need. The hardest thing by far is installing the brake lines. Getting them around the GSR manifold in a hybrid is a bitch.
You will need to swap out the front knuckles to mount the speed sensor. If you're getting a five lug setup it will have the proper mounting flange. One word of caution, the sensor rings on the hubs are diferent between the civic and the teg (the teg has more teeth) you MUST use the correct ones for the ABS computer to function properly. You might have a problem using the ITR rear trailing arm because the sensor ring is built into the hub.
As far as the wiring goes just pull the ABS wires from the chassis harness of a donor car and run them in the engine compartment (allong the top of the fire wall is what I did) the ABS system interfaces with the cars electrical system at the gauge console (ABS light, brake pedal switch, brake fluid pressure switch, check engine light, and charge system light)
Does it make a diference? well... Thats probably subjective but it does allow you to 'threshold brake' in road racing without really thinking about it. Just stand on the brakes untill the ABS system starts kicking in and you know you are getting the most out of them (thats what they are designed to do). The purists may disagree but those are the facts. Why do you think they put the system in the CTR and ITR?
One last point, the ITR ABS computer is programmed more aggressively to get more out of the brakes in competition. I am going to try to adapt the Type R system to my civic for this reason. If I could get the EX system to work I can probably figure out the ITR one.
I will have to replace everything meaning I might have the Civic ABS system available to sell. Let me know if you are interested.
