I just bought a 1989 Honda CRX
Hi everyone, just thought I'd join up as a new Honda owner. I just bought a Honda CRX, because my last car which was a Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder, decided to crap out on me. I needed something reliable, and good on gas. I bought this CRX from a guy I don't even know, for $1,100. The car has 169,000 miles on it, and has some minor damage on the passenger door, just behind the front right fender. I also noticed my hood doesn't like to close, and is just barely being held down by one latch, I need to get that fixed. I plan to use it as my daily driver, and I may have some fun with modding it a bit too. The guy I bought it from, had the exhaust welded back together, and it has no muffler, so it sounds really crappy. I plan to get a full exhaust system as soon as I can, but first I'm going to get a stereo deck installed. I can't stand driving without music. Anyway, I hope to learn a lot about Hondas, as I am a complete newbie to them.
Well, I didn't see a forum for newbie introductions, so thought I'd post here. I do need help figuring out what motor it has. All I know is its a 16 valve SOHC. I went from owning a 96 Mitsubishi Eclipse to a Honda CRX. I know nothing about them, other than they're great on gas, and are reliable.

Hate to burst your bubble, but you're going to have problems, and more than likely major problems, with a 20 year old economy car, they're not all that reliable unless you make em reliable.
With that said, be prepared to spend alot of time reading this: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1508680

An introduction forum isn't a bad idea. I see plenty of other forums that have it...there must be a reason why the moderators/admins chose not to have one here.

What trim is your car? Is it an SI, DX, or HF? If it's 16 valve, it's either a DX or an SI.
CRX DX-
Engine Code: D15B2
Displacement: 1493
Power:92@6000
Torque:89@4500
Compression:9.2:1
Bore:75
Stroke:84.5
CRX SI
Engine Code: D16A6
Displacement: 1590
Power:108@6000
Torque:100@5000
Compression:9.1:1
Bore:75
Stroke:90
Your motor has a stamp right on the front of the block with its designated engine code located to the left of the exhaust manifold. Look where the transmission meets the motor, and you'll see the stamp. OR SI's have a badge on the hatch.

welcome! I was part of this forum before, but I sold my EF and got out of the Honda scene for awhile. Back in highschool I drove a 2003 eclipse GT when I blew up my motor and had to leave EF in the garage for awhile.
