95 accord
Im about to pick up a 95' honda accord with a swapped h22,its automatic..it is running a check engine light i was wonder where the malfunction indiacator light is located...also the drive 4 light is blinking i have no ideal what that is,the car runs kinda rough...if any could help i appreciate it. thank you
Passenger side, below the glovebox. There should be a blue plug with 2 wires going to it, run a jump wire between those two and then turn the key to acc. position. Count the blinks and that will give you the CEL code.
Alright. Well it says that one condition that can cause poor performance of the AT is poor engine performance, so the D4 light could simply go away when you fix the CEL.
Otherwise, it says to remove the console to get to the two plugs below the shifter handle. You'll then want to check for continuity with the shifter in the D4 position. Here's an improv illustration of the continuity you want to look for, I can scan the page later if you're still having trouble.
So the plug is pinned as follows: (X will indicate no pin in this location)
1---2---X---X---3---4---5
X---6---7---8---9---10--11
This is obviously the larger plug, don't worry about the smaller one. So you want to have the shifter in D4, and check for continuity in pins 1, 9, and 5. So hook up a test light and it should be getting volts in the pins I listed.
Before you go to all that trouble be sure and warm up the car and check the ATF level, also make sure it's not leaking ATF.
