Who moved on to Type-S from DC2 Type-R?
Hello, im from ITR forum, and i need some comments from those people who moved on rsx-s from integra type-r.
I want to hear the likes and dislikes about dc5s.
it would be nice if you compared it to the Type-R.
also, both are very similar car, is it worth to change?
is it wise to stick with DC series..
or should i jump to a step higher eg. sti,s2000, ect.
lets here some opinions

The ITR and the RSX-S are completely different cars and probably can't be compared; they are of two completely different genres.
And every time this thread comes up it turns into a pissing contest and/or some people who don't have a damn clue about what they are talking about chime in.
I'll leave it open for now, but tread lightly...

If you have the money, definitely step it up with the evos/stis or something of the sort.
As for comparing DC2 ITR vs DC5 Type S, the general consensus is that the ITR is more of a fun, track car whereas the RSX will be more of a luxury car, but still fun. Stock for stock the speed might be similar, but the driving experience is completely different.

I've currently got one of each...as most on here say, the ITR is just too raw for a daily driver. The RSX-S is a car that my wife doesn't mind riding around in too much!
When I want to have a bit of fun, I take the ITR out for a spin on the weekend...I suppose you could make the DC5 a bit more of a track-car experience...but if that is what you want to do, just stick with the ITR.
I would think that another issue to consider is the stress level involved with daily driving an ITR (theives...every ricer trying to get you to race him...etc.). You don't get 1/10th the level of attention with the RSX-S. No matter where I drive the ITR, there is always someone interested in looking at it or talking to me about it. The RSX-S is a sleeper...fun to drive on the commute and from stop light to stop light...but not a canyon carver in stock form.
Cheers!

it all depends on what are you trying to get out of it... what do you want or shall i say what are you looking for about the car? Power? Sports Luxary? A power goal? It's hard to compare the two if i don't know what you are looking for.
im looking at a nice looking, reliable, fun to drive, a car i can park 3 hours in a shopping mall parking lot and never have to worry bout.
+ convertible lol. but dc5 isnt a convertible

Hit the nail on the head
At one time I owned both at the same time and that is completely true. IF you can have only 1 car I say go RSX-S. IF you can have a daily driver and a second car let the ITR be that second car. You can not leave the ITR out of your eye sight.

If you want to go to the mall than get an rsx-s lol. ITRs stand out A LOT especially if its yellow and there are too many people who will want your car more than you or if not theyd like to mess with it. ITRs are great cars, but trust me youre not going to want to be worrying about your car everytime you go to the mall, movies, or whatever.

my bro has a type-r and an ep3 i have a rsx type-s and i have to say his itr handles well and is pretty fun to drive especially how that b-series vtec cracks but in the end my car is still faster i just have intake, rbc, header and k-pro and my car runs 13.6. as for sti's i think they are all hype unless your into road racing. my friend has an evo MR with boost controller down pipe and exhaust and inner cooler piping and his car runs 13.2. he paid 40k and his car is only 4/10ths of a second faster than my car. also if i were you i wouldn't upgrade to a type-s i would keep the DC2 as a weekend car.
i dont think any of this helps you out but this is just what i have to say

You know, I'm glad I jumped into an RSX-S instead of an ITR. I was very close to buying an R, but the K20 engine is a really nice build. It's just really smooth so you can't hear Vtec pop like the B motors. It's a little heavier than an R, but definitely a nice upgrade. If I would do it all over again, I'd do what I did and just get an S instead of an R
I know the R would be a fun car, but I don't have to worry as much about getting stolen.

Stock for stock, I'd have to say the R is gonna be a lil faster and more fun to drive. The S is too heavy stock, and I prefer the double wishbone suspension of the R as opposed to the McPherson strut on the S.
Simple bolt-ons i.e. I/H/E will yield better from the S, but it's still heavy and feels somewhat clumsy.
As far as parking either one. Stock for stock, it'd be easier to hide the S, unless the R was black and debadged and de-winged.
My opinion, I'd rather drive an R, but own an S.

DAMN, So you don't like the sound of how Vtec kicks in
The sweet sound of vtec is what got me

That's because the ITR is cammed more aggressively. And what you hear in the GSR is likely the dual-stage manifold switching to the short runners. Otherwise the vtec x-over is very quiet on the GSR.

i also like the DC5R swap better than the DC2R swap
so what do i like most?

Sounds like you're looking for a daily. Well the Type-S is a Far superior daily to the R. It has a little bit of go and is comfy to boot. And if you decide to modify it you can have even more fun..
