Default does wider rims better drag times?

i'm planning to get the 5zigen fno1r-c. i can't decide between 17*7 which is lighter(15lbs) or 17*8(17lbs). i heard from people who get lighter rims get better accelaration. but then again more rubber contact on the ground means more grip during launch. so which one makes more sense and your opinion?

If you're looking for better dragstrip times, you're better off getting smaller, lighter rims, such as 15" or even smaller.

What kind of car (year, model, version) is this for?

Oops - sorry, yeah that needs the bigger wheels...

If you don't get an answer here, you might try asking in the drag racing forum; they seem to have more of the drag racer expertise than here in wheels and tires.

i dont think either of those wheel sizes would be my choices for drag racing.

but if you're hellbent on that wheel.... get the 17x7. it is afterall, lighter.
