Default My RSX Died

I was driving on my way to check out an IS 300 when .. my car started acting like the cluth was slipping..my RPM's were high but my car was not moving..at one point I was in 6th gear going 60 and my rpm's were at 6.5 at that point i was about 2 min from the acura dealer ship so i headed that way

Well as soon as I exited I hear a loud boom, after that my car would not go into any gear..i turned it off and back on .. i was able to put the car in gear, but it wouldnt even move.. i had it tow to the dealership and it is seating there right now

THIS SUCKS

NO, it just started happening.. like if the cluth just died in the middle of the drive..

I just got back for the dealership and there like if it is abuse or misuse it wont be covered.. if we find out u were racing, it wont be covered..

I was like then we shouldnt have a problem becase, i wasnt racing

they told there going to let me know on monday

Hey good luck on the problems bro. It took me a month and a half to resolve mine. One of the valves got over stretched and they supposedly fixed it, same day I got it back I was leaving a gas station and shifted into 2nd gear and BOOM!!!. The same valve that they " supposedly " fixed broke and shredded the engine. They said I over reved it. WTF?how can you over rev it upshifting. So I got my uncle involved( he knows the laws) and he made them change theirs minds real fast.lol. But good luck on that issue bro, hopefully they dont dick you around.

Hey Jr., if the say it was your fault, give me a call. I know the Manager for one of the Dealers down here in Clear Lake, and we where talking about people over revving the Type-S's. He let me in on some things...

dude that sucks....there gonna try to see if you were racing, possibly by looking at the wear on the clutch...hope ya havent done any burn outs ....or alot of slipping....acura will rape you there..my starter goes faulty on my ITR , and they tell me my flywheel is chewed up...then suddenly i need a new clutch , when the clutch felt strong as ever.....dont go alone...take someone with you that knows how to work it

They will check the ECU. If you say you did not race, your fine dont sweat it.

Unless the guys are going to give you a hard time, then stand firm.

Good Luck

Well yesterday afterwork, i went up to the dealership were my car was at, I talked to my service person, he said that they bearly started taking the car apart and they would let me now to day if they were going to cover it.. (and there going to cover it) but it didnt feel like arguing so i told him i would be back tomorrow

So on my way out a sales man that was there the day i took my car asked me if they started working on it yet.. I told them ( there was about 4 salesman just chillin) what the service guy told me and they all told me not to worry about it because they( service people) were going to take care of it.. I told them I hope so but it dosent seem like that.. they told me they would check my euc and if everthing i said was true them there would be no problem

Well, if you haven't done any burnouts, which I know you don't seem like the kinda guy that is crazy enough to do that, you shouldn't have any problem. They will do a check on your ECU, which will show the revs suddenly climb, but should also see that the throttle sensor and the gear you were in do not relate to the over revving. You should be fine. Now, that I think about it, maybe you should get that IS300 afterall, but forget about the Maxima.

Well, I think the new Type S's, especailly the new TL has serious problems with the transmission and the engines. One of my friends bought a 2000 TL Type S with the auto/tiptronic and the transmission went out just after 3500 miles. He also had electrical problems with the alarm and the auto door locks. I know of another person that had to replace the entire TL-S engine before the first 1000 miles.

Ok bro if you try to deal with this alone Acura is going to dick you around for a very long time, they did with me. Especially if your a young kid they are going to try and take advantage of you. Best thing is to get a lawyer and let him handle it. Acura tends to "not" dick you around if you got a lawyer. hehe. Well good luck with your car bro.

Well hope everything goes good for you bro, and yeah get someone who knows the laws and other stuff like a ...LAWYER!!!! hhehe
When my motor messed up it took acura 1 month and 29 days to finally get it resolved. And the car was only 2 weeks old.. ggrrrrr.... But in the end I got my uncle involved, he knew the laws and all the other good things and had them apologizing to me for stating that it was my fault and that I over reved it.. I still cant see how you can over rev it on a upshift. Oh well its over now and my car is all better as well. Well good luck with the car bro.

It's funny how the two cars mentioned in this thread(CL + RSX) are shown in commercials reving to about 6.5K while doing some "spirited" driving. BUT when you bring the car in for service they call it abusive.

All the more reason to buy a used car, wrench on it w/ a few buddies and learn a bunch while enjoying the hobby.

Honda may be known for reliability, but the dealers are all the same.

Yeah that is true. In the RSX type S commercial it says " the all new high reving RSX type S".

And when my motor commited suicide they said that I reved it to high which was BS. I then stated," so where is this high reving rsx type s the commercial talks about?"
They stayed quite and did not answer my question..heheh **** happens and honda backs out. =]

I'm interested in what you have to share Jason.
You've peaked my curiosity.
Is it "sensitive" information?

I hate dealerships that give you the run around I hate that **** all you have to do is threaten them with leagal action and they fold everytime. I told them I was going to file the lemon law and told them **** if you dont fix it then give me a new one looking at the price diferences they folded fixed my prob for free and that was that

4/35ths tread wear means you've been eating all the rubber off of your tires taking hard turns, accelerating real hard, switching lanes fast, taking long curves at speed or burning up your tires. That's the measurement, in inches, of the tire's tread trough to the tread apex. It probably began life at 11/32nds (32nds is prolly what he said since I used to be a tire guy and have never seen a tire with x/35ths as the depth measurement...I could be mistaken though) which means you've eaten through almost 2/3ds of the tires since you've had her. That's a pretty Goddamned gay way to short somebody out of their service, though.

I could have told you it was the tranny and not the clutch...you might have popped a synchro or something. Transmission prollems SUCK. Good luck bro.
