Default Turn Signal Clicking, then Dies

I have a '92 Accord.

Recently, the turn signal's clicking noise continued on occasion until the signal was engaged again for another turn. Then, the clicking noise continued without interruption any time the car was running, but the signals still worked. Then, the signals lost all function. This happened in a matter of a couple of days.

My understanding is that the clicking noise indicates that the relay is working well. Could this be a short in the wiring harness in the steering column or a problem with a switch in the column? The headlights (located on the same lever) still work.

Thanks,

Ron

Following up on my own post with the solution.

It was the turn signal switch/lever.

First, I changed out the relay ($10 U.S., cheap and easy and worth trying). Then, I changed out the turn signal/lever ($35 U.S. at Napa Auto Parts). It took me about an hour, using a small and medium phillips screwdriver, a medium flathead screwdriver, a T30 torx bit (for the air bag), an 18mm socket and ... nothing else, I think. And a Chilton book from the public library.
