looking for a flexible coating for polyurethane body kits
I saw on a forum here something about a coating called "superflex" or something like that that prevents polyurethane pieces from cracking after they've been painted because of flexing or vibration, does anyone know what this product is, and where I can find it?
never really heard of "superflex" but i have numerous poly kits out there on cars that i have painted, prep is key, there are some great flex agents and additives for paint and primer as well as clears, i can just offer you my experience, i have been using a product from SEMS, its there "flexible primer surfacer" it comes in rattle can and spayable qt. containers, normally what happens it the top coat seperates from the primer and body kit becuase there is no give or strech in the paint, most people use a flex agent in the top coats but not the primers beyond using a plastic prep or addhesion promotor (which sems also offers), it takes more than that to get a really durable paint on poly kits,
i have a few cars that have been through hardcore treatment and the paint is still on there with no stress cracks, had a guy hitt a dear, drove right over it in the road ripped the rear bumper right off the car, the front bumper got flexed extremely hard and the paint is still on there with no splitting or cracking, the rear bumper, well the road rash isn't quite as forgiving, lol but anyway i swear by that flexible primer on poly.
