Default 97 civic auto transmission problem

when my car is accelerating, from gear 1 to 2, it would jerk back a little bit, i have to let go the accelerator for a little bit in order to prevent a serious jerk back.
What could be the problem?
I have read some reviews saying that the solenoid could be the cause of this transmission problem. could it be changed by myself?

oh, by the way, i have recently changed the transmission fluid and the timing belt. would it affect the transmission? but i am sure that they put in the right fluid tho.

Thanks for helping!

could be a clogged screen in one of the solenoids, or it could be low/high on fluid,be sure to check the auto trans fluid with the car running.

I found this on a website:

Problem: My car shifts harshly... when it shifts it jerks, a bad shift shock. What is causing it and how do I fix it?

Only for the computer controlled transmission. The transmission detects pedal dept via two points. One at the TPS and the other at the transmission. If the deeper you press the gas the less harsh it becomes then the problems lies on the out-of-adjustment at the transmission throttle cable.

Solution: Using a wrench, adjust the transmission throttle cable in small increments and test drive. Tip: The more the slack the harsher the shift.

Where is the transmission throttle cable located?
