Default Who wants to help me with an exhaust build...

Well I'm looking to finally start modding the FA5. Decided first on an exhaust, which I'm going to be getting from turbo-mafia.com

I'm not really sure what I want in the exhaust, though. I'm not sure what resonators will do to it, how big of piping to get, etc etc.

Here's the link to where all the diff options you can get for it are:

http://turbo-mafia.com/i-63632....html

Right now this is what I have picked out -

Straight-angled (not the "JDM" angled because the clearance going under scares me)
2.5in piping (Want 3in, but now if it's going to kill power)
1 Resonator
WS/SP muffler

Now my goal is to have a deep sounding exhaust. I dont' want any of the raspiness (at least as minimal as possible) that is found in most exhaust. I also want it to be fairly loud, but not over-the-top begging to get me pulled over. Sadly, I have no idea about what having 0, 1 or 2 resonators will do nor do I have any idea what those mufflers sound like. I only picked the WS/Sp based off of how it looks, and nothing further.

So any advice would be very appreciated! The total for that comes out to $481.00 btw

I would go with 3'' piping with 1 resonator and the same muffler you have picked if you want the most power out of it this is the way to go

Ive already seen in person and on dyno sheets what 3'' piping will yield this is why i recommend it i highly doubt you will lose power when i drove my friends SI with the custom 3'' piping it pulled very freely at any rpm and when VTEC kicks it will be justified.

With your muffler choice and a resonator it should not be loud as hell like my Skunk2 hopefully you get the deep sound your looking for plus it will back fire often which is a very cool sound Good Luck dude.

Thanks for the info. You think 3in would be ok??

And do you know anything about the WS/SP muffler? I really just want a deep / somewhat loud exhaust that doesn't sound terrible.

3in" isn't too big for a car with minimal mods?

I was going to question his mods but i run just the Injen sri and the Skunk2 70mm and its a perfect combo and the skunk2 piping is 2.7 i think so with minimal mods he should be fine plus it will prep him for future mods.

In that case you might not want a 3" exhaust unless there are dyno sheets that prove it's worth doing. Might want to wait for someone with experience chimes in.

3" seems to be good for boost, not a stock NA motor.

If he is serious about modding then he will be getting the reflash along with I/H and this will prove to be the best so its up to him i would not go lower then 2.7 thats just my opinion.

I will post up the dyno sheet of a freind beating all of us based on his exhuast piping ASAP

I'm waiting for them to catch up on their orders first but I'm planning on the following:

Straight-angled
2.5" plenty for stock Si
1 Resonator
Borla muffler (not listed but they can get it for $123 worth the money to me, that's all I've had in the past)

I have a feeling the 3" will be raspy. also, you will probably lose a power in most parts of the power band with an exhaust that big.

Hey, if you do get the 3", why not get before and after dyno test? it would be interesting to see
