Car shuts off at stops
I am the owner of a 97 automatic [brand new transmission put in] and the majority of times when I ride up to a stop or just stop, the car would begin to rattle extensively [steering wheel and hood] and shut off. I would have to put the car in park, turn it 'off', take out the key and attempt to restart it. Usually it restarts and I'll continue my way through the light [yes it happens at lights...how embarrassing...] but sometimes it would not shift from park to reverse/drive without continuously shutting off. I had to get it towed twice already and each time I've been told that my car is in "perfect" condition.

Sounds like a tranny issue to me...they could have made a mistake when they put it in. Are you getting any check engine lights or transmission check lights?
No, I'm not.
Today I was told to put my car in neutral at stops and rev the engine to prevent it from turning off-- it worked. So now they are thinking its the fuel filters?

Hey i used to have that problem in my 92 lude, but i drove a manual. Try doing this cruising down hill and put it in neutral. If it dies while cruising, they changed my distributor and it was fine. That was only my case though and I'm no mechanic. so iono if my advice is valid.
lol i jus learned about that in autos. it might be that your low on oil and when u stop the oil pick up cant get any oil cause its low thus making it shut off
I installed new battery terminals a while back and one of them were really lose causing my car to turn off at a stop unless I kept it rev'd up.. Try checking your battery, terminals, grounds and alternator.
