Car shuts off when warm
I Own a 90 CRX/B16 and i just can seem to figure this problem out...my car will start up with no problem when its cold but after the car is warm and is shut off....the car will not start back up.. I already checked the main relay and replaced that but still having problem...can you help me out guys?
OK, have you tested the main relay? Did you replace it with a new one or a junkyard one? A used one could possibly be bad as well, it's the downfall of all Hondas from this generation.
Here's how:
1) Turn key to "II" position
2) CEL light comes on
3) CEL light should go off, followed by a click from the main relay
4) You should be able to hear the fuel pump whirring for a few seconds after the relay clicks. If you don't hear the fuel pump, then it's either the relay or the pump. More than likely the relay.

yeahh i have a brand new fuel pump and i also went with a new relay....Is there a main relay and a fuel relay?? if so where is the fuel relay located? anymore ideas what it could be?
i'm having the same problem. car just stalls when driving, or letting it idle for about 8~10 mins.
at first, it shoots error code 15. replaced the ignition coil, but it fixed nothing. the next one was replacing the main relay. took a 5th gen main relay off the junkyard. car went fine for about 3 weeks, and problem happened again.
then i tried cleaning the distributor myself (previous job was done by my mechanic). sanded the rotor a bit just to clean the metal part.
i test the car by letting it sit idle from cold start. unfortunately, the car dies after about 8 mins. there was no check engine light, no ecu error code. car dies just like that.

i'm just throwing ideas out, but IAC valve?
could the problem be described as, it wont idle when the car warms up (after the FITV is done reving the motor in the 1000-1500 rpm range), and idle drops to 800 or so, can it idle at this rpm? is it and idle issue? or does it just randomly shut off?
and as far as non firing back up, it sounds like a fuel pump or relay.

the main relay is the fuel pump relay.
also you might have gotten a bad fuel pump. how does it sound when you turn the ignition to the on position? it should sound like a solid hum for 2 seconds.

the main relay is on the driver side, close to the hood release

any updates? i've yet to fix mine, still busy with uni stuffs and exams.
@grog
my engine does not shut off instantly when the car warms up. cold idle was fine at about 1500~1800rpm. when the engine warms up, it drops fine to somewhere about 700~800rpm. usually it will take about another 5~8 minutes before the engine shuts off by itself.
