Default Removed Exhaust Pipe

ok so i got bored the other day and decided to go screw around on the car.

got to looking up underneath and noticed that right before the factory muffler, there is a little silencer. and there are three spring loaded bolts that held it together.

so just for the hell of it, i wanted to know what it sounded like w/o the big *** muffler.

took it off and the **** sounds good. low-mid rpm its really deep and throughty. high rpm you dont really hear it, just hear the engine.

so hell. i got a good sound and i spent $0.

My friend got his muffler cut off and welded a straight pipe from the cat. It was on a Mazda 3. He said it sounded really good at first, then he got sick of it after a while.

without muffler and res sounds like crap. if you only take off the muffler it sounds good. I've had it run straight off the headers, loud as expletive!! woke up all the neighbors lol

yes, i just took off muffler. not the resonator. i tried to take a sound clip but my camera thing just makes it sound really high pitched and its not at all. its a very low throaty sound. the only thing is like when its cold you cant really hear any difference. but after its warmed u p the **** sounds really good. and i def dont think it could hurt any performance. i also dont think it gained much either.

the cat should provide enough back pressure that it wont hurt performance to avhe the muffler off.

i took my resonator out a couple years ago and went wiht just a muffler and when i changed mufflers recently (switched from Ravin to HKS) i started the car without muffler or resonator and it sounded like crap. it sounds good wiht just teh HKS tho. thinking i wanna quiet it down before next sprign tho so i might go back to running a resonator
