Default Discussion: Does anyone swap in B-series anymore?

"Back in the day", the thing to do was get an EG or EK, and swap in a B16 or GSR motor, sometimes and ITR motor if you were really a baller.

These days, it seems like the B swap is a thing of the past. Today it seems like it's a world of turbo-D's, H2B's, and K swaps. The people who had B-series swaps from a few years ago are building them with various B20 or LS bottom ends.

So has anyone out there actually ordered a complete swap in the last year or so and put it in their EG or is that a thing of the past?

It seems like the good old days when we used to argue about B16 vs GSR swaps and running 14's in the 1/4 mile.

i have to ask what on earth lead you to this assumption?

if anything there are less questions asked about b-swaps because they are well documented, you see the turbo/lsvtec questions because they haven't become as commonplace, but i'm sure next year it'll move to something new.

of coarse people still do a b-series swap. they post up on here all the time. with so many options now, why settle for the ordinary. you're right, back i the day everyone did b-series swaps. there's alot more knowledge about H & K motors (which are stronger) and D's that can be turboed for less $$ than a stock b16.

mmm...shouldn't this be in the GDD forum anyway?

Tons of people still swap stock B's into civics - it's just that with time progression the H swap has become cheaper and it's a much better bang for ur buck than a B series IMO - not to mention turbo prices have come down some in the last few years. There's more obtainable information on them as well.

of course they do...it's just that ppl have become less narrow-minded and more parts made available.

Just go to a local meet to find out...majority of cars there have a B.

K series isn't really bandwagon material. Its people with a lot of money material.

if you can afford the K then get the K. if i could afford it, i'd get one. It's just not practical unless my boss gives me a 150% raise.

I am basing this on local meets, and what I see at the track. Seems like the only cars with B's these days are Integras.

It's not just that the whole b-series thing is dyeing out all the old honda guy are buying non honda cars. Out of all my friends 20+ including me only 3 still have honda's and i'm getting ready to sell mine i just tired of all th bs that come with honda like the thieves and shady people all my friend feel the same way. It's just not the b-series that's dying it's the honda lovers in general. I'm tired of paying 5k to get in the 14's i have seen the light of v-8's

It's because everybody worships horsepower, so they are turning to the H and K swaps. I'm wavering between a B20 and a B18b for my sol, going to be a track car. Too much more horsepower and I jump too many classes.

The H22 would be nice, but more hp than I want/need. (I'd love to have that kind of torque though)

It's actually more common than u think, that's all we do down here, it's quick and requires less modifications and they run hard. yeah there's alot of other great swaps but I love my B-series.
