Default TUrbo my Y8, please help tryed searching and the forced Induction thread no answers

Hey i know this is the wrong place, but i post a lot of questions on the forced induction thread and no one answers, only like one post or so, so I am wondering if i could boost a Y8 my friend is going to give me, i planing on having it on the engine lift and working on it slowly to get it ready for boost, but i heard obd II does not work that great with turbo, so i am having some problems, i don't want to get the engine and then do all the work to find out that it wasent worth it, i am not going to rush this because i want it to be nice, i currently have a 1997 hx, but i dont want to boost the Y5 because it is really old and i need to have a daily driver, cant afford to have it laying in the garage while i do work to the engine, so the question is will the y8 work on OBD II or do i have to change to OBD I am a super newb when it comes to turbos so sorry and please try not to flame me thanks.

Get a jumper harness and put on a chipped ecu and get tuned. Youll be ok.

X2, chipped P28 (most common) or P06 (works too ) are your best friends.

Buy this... http://rywire.com/store/obd2a-...2263a

Then find a P28 or P06 ECU...

Then get it chipped or get some kind of EMS (Engine Management System). Then get a tune to make sure the car is running properly on the new setup.

Check out Phearable.net
They sell already chipped and socketed or virgin OBD1 ecu's and boomslang conversion harnesses. This is what i used to convert my Y8 to OBD1 and it works like a charm! Pretty cheap too! Let me know if you need a turbo? I've got a mint KKK (made by Blitz) K-26 turbo i was going to use on my build but never got around to it. Perfect size for 1.6L. Sell it cheap.

No, the Y8 should drop right in, same axles, mounts, everything 'cept the ECU. Even the VTEC should plug right up since the solenoids are the same.

You shouldn't have to make any modifications what-so-ever...as far as I know...

As for the ECU just use a chipped OBD-I ECU with an OBD-IIa to OBD-I conversion harness and run a stock Y8 basemap until you get it boosted, then you can get a new chip burnt and pop it right in .

Only thing I could suggest is go with a dry-sump oil pump, for some reason from what I've seen the oil pumps tend to go out on boosted Y8's causing spun bearings. I'd get a dry-sump if I was boosting it - but that's just me.
