headgasket today! which head to use... cant decide (urgent)
im waiting for my car to cool down right now and today im swapping out my headgasket and whole gasket set in my PY01.
also swapping cam gears and doing a couple other little things. thermostat, belt etc.
but i was wondering what you guys would do i cannot decide which head to use.
i have a 2000 USDM ITR head with OMNI springs and retainers.
or the head that came on my motor the 96 JDM itr head with stock JDM internals.
im using CTR/ITR cams and a 3ply OEM gasket.
if i use my stock head again the OMNI USDM head will be up for sale tonight. if i use the OMNI i will most likely be keeping the OEM head around and maybe doing a little head work to it maybe a little JUN maybe a little valving....
i could use the extra money from the OMNI selling.
but i would only swap it on if i get a significant difference in performance.
what do i do! i have a couple hours to decide because i have to wait for whip to cool take everything off. clean, forget something, run to parts store before they close.
come back. take a break. sweep the living room/kitchen. pick which head. then install.
oh yeah and whats the 3step torque on b18c-R on stock headbolts not ARP studs
why search when i already made a thread!

you dont like my cliffs??!?!?

i was leaning towards stock as well...
but it seems like a waste when i got an "upgrade"
im kinda scared to change anything because it worked well with the JDM head.
"if it aint broke... dont EFF IT UP!!"

cool cool im keeepin it that way!
head is off im cleaning now...
but im not feelin the piston play in the cylinders...
it goes SLIGHTLY up down side side and i can spin it clockwise counterclockwise. also slightly like maybe 1/32nd of an inch each way...
i dont remember any of my other motors having this much play... but i also dont remember doing this to any of my other motors....
single ply headgasket is GONE!!! it was fun while it lasted but there was coolant everywhere.
